This is not paint. It is a weather system caught on canvas — a rose-colored ark adrift in its own atmosphere.
Five spirits hidden in blush.
At lower right, a steer head in profile — burnt sienna nose, horn curling into tangerine haze, eye cast in amber gold. He is patient, grounded, the earth anchor of the piece. Just above him, in the smoke of rose and ash, the shadow of a monkey face emerges — not drawn, but suggested by negative space, a wise trickster watching from the veil, chin tucked, brow furrowed.
At bottom left, the bunny — that plump, impossible raspberry blob you spotted first. Flushed, soft, slightly turned, ear tipped in apricot. Under her, almost subliminal, the turtle — a slow-moving dome of honey ochre and burnt orange, ancient and unhurried, carrying the whole blush world on his back.
And then, the flight — the blue bird top right. A sudden, shocking dive of lapis and cobalt through violet storm clouds, wings tucked, breaking the pink with pure sky. He is the only one in motion, the only one escaping.
They are not painted on. They are found — like shapes in clouds after rain. The paint itself does the hiding: wet-on-wet alcohol inks and aqueous veils, metallic gold dust suspended in blush, bleeding into cerulean. Areas of raw, granular texture where pigment pooled and dried, areas of sheer translucence where you see breath itself.
It is at once playful and sacred. A child's search-and-find, and an adult's myth.
Medium: Alcohol ink, aqueous pigment and metallic gold dust on canvas.
Palette: Dusty rose, raspberry sorbet, marmalade, honey gold, apricot, bone white, lapis lazuli, cobalt, violet, sienna, umber
Vibe: Mythic kitsch meets high-gloss luxury. Joyful, erotic, talismanic. It stops guests mid-cocktail: “Wait—is that a…?” And then they are lost hunting for the five.
Dimensions: 34 × 43 × 3
